چکیده

Abstract Aim The treatment of impacted or un-displaced femoral neck fractures in the elderly osteoporotic patient is still largely debated, with arthroplasty versus internal fixation two surgical options1. Our aim was to retrospectively review patients over age 80 intracapsular hip who had undergone and assess their rate mortality revision surgery. Method We conducted a retrospective all 4-year period between January 2015 December 2018. refined this only fixed cannulated screws. noted mental mobility status, follow-up attendance 3 years, Results There were total 1232 period. Of these, 37 >80 fractures, 23 screws 14 Dynamic Hip Screw. Mean – 85, M:F (1:4.75). All either Garden Classification Type I II. 4% cognitive impairment. independently mobile. 83% followed up for 1 (4%) undergoing surgery years following screw fixation. 30-day 5%. Conclusions choice remains debateable. shows that re-operation low have so viable option.

Hemiarthroplasty or internal fixation for intracapsular displaced femoral neck fractures: randomised controlled trial.

OBJECTIVE To compare the functional results after displaced fractures of the femoral neck treated with internal fixation or hemiarthroplasty. DESIGN Randomised trial with blinding of assessments of functional results. SETTING University hospital. PARTICIPANTS 222 patients; 165 (74%) women, mean age 83 years. Inclusion criteria were age above 60, ability to walk before the fracture, and no...

Internal fixation compared with total hip replacement for displaced femoral neck fractures in the elderly.

The treatment algorithms for displaced fractures of the femoral neck need to be improved if we are to reduce the need for secondary surgery. We have studied 102 patients of mean age 80 years, with an acute displaced fracture of the femoral neck. They were randomly placed into two groups, treated either by internal fixation (IF) with two cannulated screws or total hip replacement (THR). None sho...

Closed reduction and fixation of high-energy femoral neck fractures: Still a viable surgical treatment option

Background: Femoral neck fracture causes disability if not treated properly and high-energy fractures usually have increased complication rates. Does closed reduction and internal fixation of femoral neck high energy fractures have increased complication rates? Methods: We used closed reduction and internal fixation using 3 cannulated cancellous screws. There were 67 patients (39 male, 28 femal...

Unipolar versus bipolar uncemented hemiarthroplasty for elderly patients with displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures.

PURPOSE To compare outcomes of unipolar versus bipolar uncemented hemiarthroplasty and determine factors affecting outcomes. METHODS 433 and 274 elderly patients with displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures underwent uncemented unipolar hemiarthroplasty and uncemented bipolar hydroxyapatite-coated hemiarthroplasty, respectively. Surgical options were based on the patient's general cond...

Internal fixation compared with arthroplasty for displaced fractures of the femoral neck. A meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND The optimal choice for the stabilization of displaced femoral neck fractures remains controversial, with alternatives including arthroplasty and internal fixation. Our objective was to determine the effect of arthroplasty (hemiarthroplasty, bipolar arthroplasty, and total hip arthroplasty), compared with that of internal fixation, on rates of mortality, revision, pain, function, oper...
